Pastoral Staff Addition + “One Another” Notes

  • Jul 12, 2011

CrossPointe,

Last Sunday’s “One Another” meeting contained quite a lot of information! If you weren’t able to be there, please review the summary below. While there’s much to digest here, let me first reemphasize the pastoral staff addition.

The growth CrossPointe has experienced over the last year or so has led the elders and me to search for an additional pastor to meet the needs of our growing church. Initially, we thought a children’s pastor would be ideal, but as our search progressed we realized how much the larger body of CrossPointe would benefit from additional pastoral help, especially in three specific areas—pastoral care & counseling, spiritual formation & discipleship, and oversight of our children’s rooms.

At the recent “One Another” meeting, I announced the hiring of Wayne Shealy to help meet the growing demands in these areas. Wayne and his wife, Beth, are originally from South Carolina, where they both graduated from Clemson University. The two were married in 2003 and have two daughters, Claire (3 years) and Julie (9 months).

From a ministry perspective, Wayne has served churches in Indiana and Kentucky as well as Clemson’s chapter of Campus Crusade for Christ. Additionally, he holds master’s degrees in Divinity and Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Louisville, Ky.) and is a candidate for Doctor of Philosophy in New Testament Studies there. In these regards he is very qualified!

Having interacted with him on many occasions and listened to his and Beth’s hearts for the Gospel and the local church, the other elders and I can say without question that we are grateful and excited to have such a gifted, humble and godly brother join us in serving CrossPointe.

The Shealys will move from Louisville to Columbus at the beginning of August, and I’m looking forward to welcoming them to the church and staff team.

Grace & Peace,
Brad
