Sunday: “We Can Change”

This week we’ll be in Ephesians 4:17–24, and for the remainder of Ephesians it is really important for us to remember the structure of the letter. Paul spends most of chapters 1–3 explaining the gospel in terms of what Christ has already done for us. Chapters 4–6 are full of how we should live in light of that reality. Another way we might say this is that Paul preaches Christ before he preaches commands. And the order is really (really) important.
When commands come before Christ, you get legalism. But when Christ comes before the commands, you get gospel-empowered sanctification. In other words, in Christ, we really can change. Here are some Scriptures to read to prepare your heart for this Sunday:
