Missions
Our Mission Statement
CrossPointe believes God has allowed us to participate in his great redemptive plan. He uses weak and sinful people to tell the world the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection. More than anything, we respond to Jesus’ Great Commission, in which he declared, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matt. 28:18–20).
Our Team
The New Testament, Acts especially, records the missionary activities of a man called Barnabas, who assisted the Apostle Paul in sharing the Gospel throughout the Mediterranean. Barnabas, whose name means “Son of Encouragement,” supported and served Paul’s global Gospel mission. Likewise, the Barnabas Team consists of CrossPointe members who desire to indirectly and directly proclaim the Gospel throughout the world by supporting and encouraging global missions. The team’s responsiblities include:
- Promoting a missions awareness among CrossPointe members
- Encouraging individual support for ministries and missionaries affiliated with CrossPointe
- Reviewing requests for support, financial or otherwise
- Recommending missions activities to CrossPointe’s elders
- Assisting CrossPointe’s members with short-term mission opportunities
- Organizing annual missions conference
- Recommending relevant speakers and/or reports to CrossPointe
- Reviewing current ministries/missionaries’ adherence to CrossPointe’s doctrinal and practical standards
Our Emphases
- Local—God has called CrossPointe to actively reach Columbus, our “Jerusalem” (see Acts 1:8), for Christ. We support several local ministries with finances and personal involvement.
- Sound Choices Pregnancy Center
- Teen Advisors
- Highland Community Church
- Young Life (Columbus & Ft. Benning)
- Valley Rescue Mission
- International Friendship Ministries
- Navigators (Ft. Benning)
- Nationally—The United States has a heritage of faith in God, but this is often more of a cultural value than a genuine, personal love of Christ.
- Ouida Bradford (Chi Alpha), Columbus State University
- Clayton Dye (Campus Outreach), Troy University
- David Henke (Watchman Fellowship)
- Globally—God has blessed CrossPointe with the resources to share the Gospel with the world. There are many unreached people groups, 6,650 or 40.7 percent according to the Joshua Project, which live in the 10/40 Window (referring to degrees north of the equator). In order to fulfill Revelation 5:9, we desire to strategically support missions efforts to these places. We support organizations such as Compassion International, which provides for children in poverty, and Hopegivers International, which cares for children and trains them to share the same hope of the gospel with their people. Additionally, CrossPointe supports 15 missionary families throughout Europe, including Belgium, Italy, Central America, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Bulgaria; Asia, including Indonesia; Central America; India; and the Middle East, including Kosovo.
