Dear CrossPointe,
Our text this week, Daniel 9, contains one of the most debated and complex passages in the Bible. Most of the chapter is a prayer of repentance and lament by Daniel for his people. It is a beautiful example of intercession by Daniel as he pleads to God for mercy on Israel.
And then, in verses 24–27, the angel Gabriel brings a prophecy about “the seventy weeks.” To say this passage is complex is an understatement! Over the centuries there have been many different interpretations of this passage, so we’ll try to make sense of some of the major views. Ultimately, my hope is that we all get the overarching point of this text: Jesus is coming again and will make all things right.
Read Daniel 9 a few times before Sunday. Looking forward to unpacking it with you!
Grace and peace,
Brad
