Dear CrossPointe,

Our text this week, Daniel 7, is going to be fun! The first half of Daniel (ch. 1–6) has been for the most part historical narrative and relatively straight-forward. From here on out (ch. 7–12) the genre changes to what is called apocalyptic literature. The word “apocalyptic” implies revelation, and in the Bible this genre is used to bring hope to God’s people in present distress by ensuring them of God’s certain future victory.

In Daniel 7, we read about four beasts, the Ancient of Days, and the Son of Man. As we work through this chapter, my hope is to give us some tools to help us read apocalyptic literature and, ultimately, see how it points to Christ and his ultimate triumph. For now, just read Daniel 7 a few times so you don’t come in cold on Sunday. Trust me, it’ll make more sense by the time we get done!

Also, pray for our missions efforts around the world right now. The India team will return to the States on Monday, and our Uganda team is leaving this afternoon. (I’ll be joining them early next week.) Praise God for our missions partners around the world!

Finally, we’ll remember and celebrate the Lord’s Supper together as a church family this Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you!

Brad
