Jesus and Children
CrossPointe,
In Mark 10:13-16, Jesus speaks of discipleship in parenting and caring for children. He says, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the Kingdom of God” (v14). What does Jesus mean by this? How are those who possess God’s Kingdom like children?
Is it because children are innocent? I think we know better than to believe that. Is it because children are humble? Not in my experience! No, Jesus wants his disciples to be like children because children are needy and desperate.
In our text this Sunday, we’ll see Jesus’ great love for children and how he uses them as an illustration of how we are to approach God—in trust, acknowledging our weakness and dependency.
I look forward to seeing you on Sunday!
Wayne
