“Doers of the Word”
We come this Sunday to James 1:22–25 and what may be the heart of the letter. James exhorts us to not only hear God’s word, but to do it, obey it, live it out, and be changed by it. To not do so is as ridiculous as a man who looks at his disheveled face in a mirror and does nothing to change his appearance.
This is in large part a synopsis of the whole epistle—true saving faith must be authenticated by obedience to God. Good doctrine should lead to earnest devotion. May our time together this Sunday in this passage help us match doctrine with devotion, and hearing with doing.
Looking forward to Sunday,
Brad
