Dear CrossPointe,

I’m really looking forward to diving into our text this week, 1 Timothy 6:1–10. The primary thrust of this passage is contentment in Christ in a culture of consumerism. If that was an issue for Christians in the first century, how much more so for us!

Take some time to read the text before Sunday. Be careful not to think about other people who need the truths in this passage, but consider how we ourselves are prone to cravings that draw us away from satisfaction in God. May the Lord make us more like him as we gather this Sunday and may he draw unbelievers to himself.

We’ll also gather around the Table this Sunday and receive the Lord’s Supper. Let’s prepare our hearts for this gospel meal.

“One Another” Member Meeting (Sunday, 6–7:30 p.m.) || Every other month CrossPointe’s members gather to discuss matters pertinent to the life of the church. Members are strongly encouraged to attend. Childcare will be available as usual.

MWF: “Hard Sayings of the Bible” (Wed., 5:45–7:30 p.m., Nov. 9) || Join us for our last night of tough truths in Scripture. Dinner ($5/person) starts at 5:45 p.m., followed by teaching at 6:30. There will be childcare as well. RSVP for dinner and/or childcare by contacting Molly Copley.

Children’s Ministry Training (Nov. 13, 9 a.m.) || Learn more about how we care for the children God has entrusted to us every Sunday morning. To serve you must attend this class and complete a short application. Sign up by e-mailing Cristin Wise.

Missions Conference (Nov. 13, 6 p.m.) & Dinner (Nov. 16, 5:45 p.m.) || Jeff Barkhouse will help us consider how our church family can encourage missionaries we support. Then, on Wednesday, we’ll enjoy dinner together and spend time in prayer for missions efforts around the world. Sign up for one or both nights here.

Ladies’ Lunch (Nov. 15, noon) || The women of CrossPointe meet every third Tuesday for lunch ($5 Chicken Salad Chick) and fellowship as we study Jerry Bridges’ The Transforming Power of the Gospel together. Childcare begins at 10 a.m. RSVP for food and/or childcare by e-mailing Molly Copley.

Newcomers’ Lunch (Nov. 20, after worship) || If you’ve begun attending CrossPointe in the last few months and would like to know more about the church, please join us for lunch after worship!
