Back in Genesis!

Dear CrossPointe,

What an excellent message from David Baum last week on Ephesians 4:11–16 and “Six Ways God Gets Glory from the Local Church.” If you missed it, watch or listen to it here and continue to pray for the Baums as they prepare to plant a church soon!

This week we’ll pick back up in Genesis for the balance of the summer. The text this Sunday, Genesis 12:10–14:24, is a bit longer than we usually cover in one sermon, but I hope by the end of it you’ll see how it fits together to show us a beautiful gospel truth. I say it often, but it would be especially helpful if you read the text a few times before Sunday. As you read, take note of Abram’s cowardice, his courage, and a mysterious priest named Melchizedek who ultimately points to Christ. I’d also encourage you to read Hebrews 7 which sheds light on Melchizedek.

Finally, we’ll receive communion as a church family this Sunday. I’m looking forward to seeing all of you!

Baby Bottle Boomerang Ends June 15 || Be sure to return your filled baby-bottles for Sound Choices next Sunday! You can still take one from the foyer and fill it with loose change and bills to support the pregnancy clinic.

Ladies’ Lunch (June 17) || Enjoy food ($5 Chick-fil-A) and fellowship every third Tuesday of the month. Childcare is available at 10 a.m. Contact Rachel Gibbs to sign up!

Camp in the City 2014 (June 23–27) || Pine Cove’s day-camp for kids (entering 1st–6th) is returning to CrossPointe! For all the details, visit www.pinecove.com/city/crosspointe. Contact Robert Ward for more information. Registration ends June 16!

Baptism Sundays (June 29 & July 20) || Believers are baptized in obedience to Christ’s command, identifying with his life and death and uniting with the local church. If you would like to be baptized or learn more about what it means to be baptized, please contact Robert Ward.

Midweek Fellowship Returning in July || Every Wednesday in July, we’ll have dinner ($5/person) starting at 5:45 p.m. followed by teaching on personal evangelism at 6:30 p.m. Childcare is provided, and both middle- and high-school youth will have Bible study.

Child Dedication (July 27; class July 13, 9 a.m.) || Parents interested in dedicating their children to the Lord should first attend the class two weeks earlier in Classroom B. Contact Rachel Gibbs to sign up!
