This Sunday: Nailed to a Cross

CrossPointe,

Really looking forward to this Sunday. Two quick things:

THIS SUNDAY // COLOSSIANS 2:11-15 - "NAILED TO THE CROSS"

Confession time. I'm always kind of grumpy around Christmas and Easter. I think it's because of the way our culture (even our church culture) approaches these two "holidays." It seems like we so easily minimize the God-exalting, Jesus-centered, man-humbling, pride-wrecking enormity of the Gospel these days are meant to celebrate and somehow make it about Easter outfits, lunch with family, and egg hunts. Of course, clothes, family, and candy are not bad things, but when they become primary we become idolatrous. So, let's wear purple and enjoy great meals and have fun with the kids, but let's not lose the centrality of the Cross and the supremacy of Christ in all things. This Sunday we are going to work through one of the most profound passages about the Cross in the Bible and it just happens to be where we are in Colossians. In this message I am going to clearly and thoroughly explain the Gospel. This would be a great Sunday to bring a friend that does not know Jesus or is not connected to a church.
