“Predestined According to His Purpose” (Eph. 1:3–14)
Tribe,
Last week’s sermon simply wasn’t enough to cover all of Ephesians 1:1-14. So this Sunday, get ready to retrace our footsteps, this time looking at the text from another angle—the doctrine of predestination.
Undoubtedly this is one of the most complex and controversial but crucial doctrines in the Bible. Let me say two things. First, we must approach this topic with humility toward God and his Word and also toward one another if we disagree. And second, one sermon cannot cover all the questions arising from this subject. Consequently, we will have a Q&A session on predestination this Wednesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. I encourage everyone to come to this, and bring good questions! Childcare will be available.
In the meantime, prepare your heart for Sunday by:
- Reading Ephesians 1:3-14
- Reading Romans 8:28-30
- Reading John 6:35-51
- Reading Matthew 11:25-30
- Praying for God to give us understanding which produces worship and confidence to proclaim the gospel to others
Grace and peace,
Brad
