Announcements, July 10, 2015

Dear CrossPointe,

This Sunday our text will be 1 Thessalonians 2:13–16, in which Paul gives thanks for how the Thessalonians have received the word of God and how clearly it is at work in them. I think this brief text gives us a very important insight into the power and primacy of the word of God in the life of a Christian and the local church. Our plan will be to unpack how Scripture works in and on us to conform us to the image of Christ.

Also, this Sunday evening we are having our bi-monthly “One Another” Member Meeting. I really hope you will make it a priority to be there if you are in town. We have some very important things to discuss in light of the Supreme Court’s decision on same-sex marriage and how we as a church should respond and posture ourselves in our culture.

“One Another” Meeting (Sunday, 6–7:30 p.m.)
Every other month CrossPointe’s members gather for a “family meeting” as we discuss matters pertinent to church life. Childcare is always provided!

Midweek Fellowship: Eschatology (July 15, 5:45 p.m.)
Join us for the second week of our four-week series on the “end times.” We’ll gather for dinner at 5:45 p.m. and move into the sanctuary around 6:30 p.m. for teaching from Brad. All meals are $5, not to exceed $20/family. RSVP for meals and/or childcare by contacting Nicole Carey.

Men’s Systematic Theology (July 28–Sept. 1)
Meet Tuesdays at 7 a.m. in Classroom A as we work through Wayne Grudem’s Systematic Theology. This time we’ll look at how redemption is accomplished and applied. Contact Brad Evangelista to sign up.

Ladies’ Lunch (July 21, noon)
Meet in Classroom A as we study spiritual disciplines together over lunch ($5, Chicken Salad Chick). Childcare starts at 10 a.m. RSVP by e-mailing Nicole Carey!

Young Adults Retreat (July 24–26)
We’ll have a slip-n-slide, kayaks, fishing, swimming, skeet-shooting, hiking, yard-games, board-games, the potato gun, river floats, a water-balloon launcher, s’mores, campfires, and general unguided lounging—all for $35! Contact Will Hawk to sign up!

Starting Pointe Membership Class (Aug. 14–16)
This class has three sessions: Gospel (Fri., 6:30–9 p.m.), Community (Sat., 9 a.m.–noon), and Mission (Sun., 6–7:30 p.m.). Childcare is provided. Contact Robert Ward to sign up!
