“The Good News” this Easter
On this one Sunday of the year that our culture celebrates the resurrection, it’s been my custom to choose a text that is particularly clear about the saving work of Christ. We anticipate that a larger than usual number of unbelievers will join us Sunday, and my hope is to be utterly clear about the Good News. Of course, that’s kind of my goal every Sunday, but you get my point!
Since we’ve been marinating in Romans for so long, it seems good to me this year that we stay in it this Sunday. But, we’ll jump back all the way to Romans 1:16–17 where Paul says,“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, ‘The righteous shall live by faith.’” I believe this text will serve as a wonderful foundation for explaining and heralding the Gospel to unbelievers and believers alike. Please join me in praying that God will draw people to himself and that he will make those already his more like Christ.
I’m looking forward to Sunday!
