Born Again to a Living Hope
Dear CrossPointe,
Our text this week, 1 Peter 1:3-12, is one of the most beautiful passages in the Bible. Packed full of gospel truth and hope, it’s actually one long sentence in the original language (Greek). And what a great long sentence it would be to memorize in English! It breaks down into three parts—the hope of our future inheritance (vv3-5), how the guarantee of this future brings joy amidst present trials (vv6-9), and how this future salvation was long ago predicted (v.10-12).
This is one of those texts you need to read slowly and repeatedly. Think deeply about the words Peter uses to describe salvation. Pray for God to stir our affections for Christ and to melt unbelieving hearts on Sunday. Looking forward to seeing you!
Grace and peace,
Brad
