Jesus, the Resurrection and the Life

Dear CrossPointe,

Praise the Lord! In God’s good timing, we find ourselves in John 11:17–44 this Resurrection Sunday. It’s the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead—one of the great scenes in the New Testament and a wonderful text for Easter. 

Last week Robert did an excellent job of setting the scene of Jesus’ love for Lazarus and his sisters while showing how his glory is our greatest good. This week that will come to fruition in the raising of Lazarus. 

If you’ve been around CrossPointe for any length of time, you know I refer to this passage often. In my mind, the raising of Lazarus is a picture of how salvation happens for all believers. We all start off spiritually dead, and Jesus brings us back to life by the power of his Word. But there’s a lot more to these verses than just God’s sovereign power to save—as glorious as that is! I’m eager to dig into this text with you!

Join us tonight, as well, for our Good Friday service. We’re going to read about, sing about, and consider Jesus’ death on the cross.
