Lord of the Sabbath
Dear CrossPointe,
This week we are going to look at two scenes from Mark 2:23–3:6, which both involve Jesus being criticized by the Pharisees for his actions on the Sabbath, the day of rest. On the surface, it might seem like this dispute is just another example of nitpicking religious leaders, irrelevant to our lives today. But, as I hope we’ll see, the issue underneath it all cuts right to the very heart of the Gospel and what it means to trust and truly rest in Christ.
Be sure to read Mark 2:23–3:6 a few times before Sunday and come ready to sing to Jesus, hear about Jesus and respond to Jesus together.
Grace and peace,
Brad
