Reactions to Jesus
Dear Church,
It was so wonderful to have our friend, Gareth Franks, with us last Sunday and to hear him preach on the finished work of Christ from John 19. You can access that message here if you missed it. It was a wonderful message!
This Sunday, our text is John 11:45–57. It’s remarkable how quickly John moves on from Lazarus’ resurrection—he provides no further details or comments about Lazarus. Rather, John turns our attention to various reactions about Jesus. Some people believed in him, others told the Pharisees what he’d done, and the Pharisees themselves sought to arrest him. There is also a fascinating prophecy from Caiaphas, the high priest, that is packed with irony.
This is an interesting scene! But as we work through this passage, our challenge will not only be to analyze their reactions but to also examine our own.
We’ll also receive the Lord’s Supper on this first Sunday of May. Pray with me that the Lord will open our eyes to see wonderful things in His Word.
In Christ,
Brad
