The Beginning

Dear CrossPointe,

I hope you were encouraged and challenged by David Baum's message last week on the church. I certainly was. If you missed it, you can listen to it here. Please pray for David and the leadership of CrossPointe as we plan and prepare for the church plant. If you are interested in hearing more from David about this church plant, there will be an information meeting in classroom A this Sunday evening at 6:00pm.

This Sunday we'll begin a series through Genesis 1-12 and I am really excited about it although, honestly, it's a challenging book to preach from! So, rather than tackling all fifty chapters in one long series, our plan will be to break up Genesis into several blocks and eventually cover it all over the next few years. Understanding the first few chapters of Genesis is essential to understanding the rest of the Bible. In just these few chapters, many of the great themes of the Bible are developed—creation, mankind, marriage, sin and the fall, the promise of redemption, etc.

This Sunday we'll cover Genesis 1:1–2:3. Don't show up cold. Stretch your spiritual muscle before Sunday. Read the text. Ask God for understanding. Pray that He moves mightily as we gather Sunday. Invite an unbelieving friend. Come ready to worship our Great Creator God!
