The Family of Jesus
Dear CrossPointe,
In Mark 3:20-35, Mark sandwiches a story within a (seemingly unrelated) story. Jesus’ family thinks he’s crazy and wants to seize him; meanwhile, the scribes accuse Jesus of being in league with Satan. The combination of these two scenes shows us how Jesus’ enemies and even his own family wanted to subdue or limit Jesus.
But, as Jesus himself points out, he is really a strong man come to bind Satan. He has come to seize and plunder evil and all of its consequences. Consequently, only those who see this and trust in Jesus are truly his friends and real family.
Please read Mark 3:20-35 a few times before Sunday and pray for God to do great things among us!
Grace and peace,
Brad
