The Father’s Cup

Dear CrossPointe,

The arrest of Jesus in John 18:1–14 is an intense and chaotic scene. And yet, Jesus is in total control, leading the conversation. Even as Peter tries to defend him with a sword, Jesus rebukes him and points to his mission on the cross—to drink the cup of God’s wrath for the sins of all those that will come to him by faith. 

This passage gets us to the very heart of the gospel. Please pray with me that God uses our time together this Sunday to fuel our love for him, equip us to live more faithfully, and draw any unbelievers to faith in Christ.
