The King Forsaken and Crucified
Dear CrossPointe,
This Sunday we’ll zoom in on the crucifixion of Jesus as we study Mark 15:21-47. The center of this passage is verse 34, which some have called the most important and terrible question ever asked, as Jesus cries out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Up to this point we’ve seen Jesus forsaken by his friends and foes, but here, we see the Son forsaken by the Father.
What is going on here? Why is this question so important? What does it mean for us? These are the questions we’ll attempt to answer this Sunday as we dig into this text. Take some time to read this passage a few times before Sunday. They are some of the most important words ever written. And ask the Lord to help us see the glory of the gospel as we gather.
Grace and peace,
Brad
