“The Fullness of Time”
I want to let you into my thought-process a bit when it comes to preaching around Christmas time...
I always anticipate that there may be more visitors and unbelievers joining our services around this time, and thus I aim to be particularly clear about the most important news in the universe, the Good News of how sinners can be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. Of course, my hope is to always be very clear about the gospel every Sunday no matter the passage of Scripture we are considering. It just seems that this time of the year is more ripe with evangelism opportunities.
To that end, we are going to look at a familiar passage this Sunday, Galatians 4:4–7, which is really a short summary of the whole message of the Bible in just a few verses. This text reminds us that God is in total control of human history and has orchestrated our redemption perfectly through Jesus by whom we have been adopted into God’s family. Praise God! This would be a good Sunday (as is every Sunday!) to invite an unbelieving friend or family member. I assure you they will hear the message of Christmas—that God sent forth his Son to save his people.
Looking forward to this Sunday!
