“Jesus Cleanses the Temple”

Dear CrossPointe,
This Sunday we’ll be in John 2:13–25 and consider the familiar story of Jesus cleansing the temple of people doing the business of religion. It’s another scene in John rich with gospel symbolism. We may not be selling pigeons for profit in the foyer of CrossPointe, but we are prone to turning worship into something merely for our gain, too.
The good news, though, is that Jesus not only cleanses the temple, he becomes the new and better temple, the place where God’s justice is satisfied and his people can enter in and dwell with him forever.
This text is so rich! Read it. Chew on it. Pray through it. Come in warm on Sunday. Have your head on a swivel and look for someone to encourage.
Looking forward to seeing you!
Grace and peace,
Brad
