This Sunday: "The Righteous Live by Faith"

CrossPointe,

If you missed the beginning of our sermon series through Habakkuk, I encourage you to catch up and listen to it here as the first eleven verses really set the stage for the rest of the book.

This Sunday we’ll look at Habakkuk 1:12–2:5, the prophet’s second complaint and the Lord’s answer. In this passage, Habakkuk wonders why God would use a more wicked people to punish Judah and whether or not the Chaldeans will ever be punished themselves. The Lord’s answer points us to the heart of the Gospel later revealed in the New Testament when he tells Habakkuk that “the righteous shall live by his faith” (Hab 2:4). In other words, as Paul further explains in Romans and Galatians, we can trust completely in God who will make all things right, and has justified His people and made them righteous by the Cross of Christ.

Here are a few Scriptures to read before Sunday:

Also, here is an infographic of the kings of Israel and Judah during the time of the divided kingdom. It shows how the Old Testament prophets and kings’ reigns relate, and I think you’ll find it very helpful.

Grace and peace,

Brad
