The Pharisee and the Tax Collector
CrossPointe,
I am looking forward to gathering with you this Sunday to look at Luke 18:9–14, the parable of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector. At first glance, it appears that this parable is for those who consider themselves righteous because of their good works—and that’s exactly what it’s about. But, we’d be mistaken to think it’s a warning for “other people” and not us as well. Think of this parable as a tool to examine our own hearts, not so much a story to be heard only by prideful self-righteous folks. The overarching question Jesus is asking us to consider is this: “By whose righteousness are you justified?"
Give it a read, and ask the Lord to prepare us as we come together this Sunday!
